Leadership

Our leadership team combines decades of experience in oil and gas operations and investment, with expertise gained from management roles at leading public and private operators, as well as private equity and investment banking firms.

Kirk Goehring is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Benchmark Energy II.  Prior to Benchmark, Kirk was Chief Operating Officer at Jones Energy.  At Jones Energy, he spent seven years in a variety of management roles across operations, finance, strategy. Kirk joined Jones Energy from Metalmark Capital, a New York based private equity firm, where he focused on natural resources and industrial investments. Kirk began his career as an investment banking analyst at Greenhill and Bear Stearns.  Kirk graduated from the Business Honors Program at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas with a degree in finance.
Garrett Jennings is Vice President, Finance of Benchmark Energy II. Garrett joined Benchmark from RBC Richardson Barr, the Energy A&D practice of RBC Capital Markets, where he focused on upstream oil & gas transactions across all major U.S. Lower 48 resource plays. Prior to RBC, he worked in Energy Finance Management Consulting at PwC. Garrett graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Business Administration – Accounting & Finance, and earned a Master in Professional Accounting degree from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business.
Luke Riggins is Vice President, Operations for Benchmark Energy II. Prior experience includes six years as Managing Partner at Tres Management and eight years at Devon Energy as a production and completions engineer. Luke’s experience covers multiple producing basins in the United States but is concentrated in the Anadarko Basin where he started his career with Devon. Luke graduated from the Colorado School of Mines and is a registered Professional Engineer in Oklahoma.

Logan Tussey is Vice President, Geology of Benchmark Energy II. Logan is an accomplished geologist with over a decade of experience across key oil and gas basins in the United States. Logan joined Benchmark from Presidio Petroleum, where he focused on business development. Prior to Presidio, he held senior roles at Parsley Energy and Jones Energy with a focus on full-field development planning, operations, and exploration within the Permian and Anadarko Basins. Logan graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Geology, and an M.S. in Energy and Earth Resources from the University of Texas, Jackson School of Geosciences.

Jeff Marlowe is the Controller of Benchmark Energy II, LLC. Prior experience includes accounting/finance positions of increasing responsibility in the oil and gas, real estate development and investment management industries with companies including PetroLegacy Energy II, Forestar Group, Davis Petroleum, Kayne Anderson Fund Advisors and Rosetta Resources. Jeff started his career at PwC, LLP working in both the Houston and London, UK offices. He earned a B.B.A.in Accounting and Finance from Texas A&M University and is a CPA.

Matt Murphy is Vice President of Land for Benchmark Energy II. Matt joined Benchmark from Canvas Energy. He is a senior-level Energy and Exploration Land professional with nearly 20 years of industry experience supporting large-scale unconventional and conventional development programs for Chesapeake Energy, Chaparral Energy, and Canvas Energy.

His background includes Senior Landman roles in the Mid-Continent Basin, Marcellus Shale, and Utica Shale. A Certified Professional Landman, Matt holds a B.S. in Business Management from Oklahoma State University and remains an active member of AAPL and OCAPL.
